Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A.
The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa. It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations. Karara is breaking new ground with the development and ongoing operation of the first significant iron ore mine in the mid- west.
We are seeking a qualified and capable Electrical Technical Writer to join the site Electrical Maintenance and Engineering team. The Technical Writer is responsible for compiling and updating Detailed Job Plans (DJP) to assist trades people in the field to safely and efficiently execute works to a high standard assisting in plant reliability/availability and reduction of costs.
This role is a critical part of the Maintenance team that requires a self-motivated person to ensure technical detail in all documentation is to a high standard ensuring all safety aspects are incorporated.
This role operates on an 8 days on 6 days off day shift roster.
Key responsibilities;

- Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, other employees, contractors and visitors
- Scope job locations identifying specific permits that are required to be included in the DJP and for the task
- Review the job scope identifying and preparing a DJP if required ensuring quality assurance standards and specifications are incorporated into the DJP
- Compile detailed job plans, in a realistic, uncomplicated format for utilisation in the field ensuring the information is concise and able to be followed
- Incorporate the OEM maintenance manuals along with in field observations to compile a robust DJP
- Ensure that all DJP’s are reviewed and updated as required when additional infield comments for improvement are received
- Develop Work Instructions on request for Maintenance notifications and task lists in a timely and consistent manner
Key individual requirements;
- Trade qualification or certification in the Electrical field
- Proven experience working with SMP disciplines (desirable)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suit, SAP maintenance systems and CAD
- ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
