Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We have an opportunity for a qualified and very capable Business Analyst to join our Finance team based in the Perth head office. Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, this role is responsible for a variety of activity in the financial reporting, analysis, budget and forecasting space. The Business Analyst will have significant input into the comprehensive month end process, as well as completing scheduled and adhoc reports and report analysis for local and international stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of financial and management accounting practices and a demonstrated understanding of month end process. They will also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and place a high value on contributing to a positive team culture in the workplace.
Key responsibilities:
- Month end journals and accruals for internal Departments
- Product inventory valuation and impairment testing
- Deferred stripping calculations
- Running SAP system month end routines
- Preparation of month end Ansteel reporting pack
- Preparation and distribution of management reports as well as various month end reports and analysis for Ansteel (incl. SASAC reporting requirements)
- Interfacing with external auditors when required
- Provide support to Senior Business Analyst with budgeting, forecasting and general adhoc reporting requirements
- Provide support to Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer as required
Qualifications:
- CA or CPA qualification
Key Requirements:
- Fluent in written and oral Cantonese/Mandarin preferred and advantageous to this role
- Previous experience in similar role within the mining or resources industry
- Previous experience using SAP
- Solid skills in MS Excel
