Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are looking for a capable and hard working Ore Quality Technician to join the site Geology team. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the role's responsibility is to support and assist in a variety of Geological activities.
This role operates on an 8 days on 6 days off day shift roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Role model safety practices and comply with all site safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Drill hole sample collection
- Data entry and reporting on sample collection
- Exploration and preparation of samples
- Ore mark ups as required
- General housekeeping
- Participating and contributing to updating safety procedures specific to Geology duties
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Daily support to Geology team
Key requirements:
- Class C WA drivers license
- Forklift ticket (desirable)
- Experience in MS Office Suite
- Previous experience in similar role within the mining industry
- Demonstrated ability in time management and strong interpersonal skills
