Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. We have an opportunity for a dedicated and driven Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to lead the Electrical Maintenance crew. The Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of technicians, providing technical expertise and effective people management to maintain assets to prescribed standards and maximising equipment availability. This role also forms part of the leadership team tasked with driving a strong safety focus in the Maintenance department.

This role is a permanent position, based on an 8 days on 6 days off FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities: 

       Safety:

  • Adhering to all Karara safety policy and procedure requirements
  • Role model and lead the way in safe work practices
  • Actively engage in discussions to improve hazard awareness and safety
  • Contribute to the development of continuous health and safety improvements

      Technical:

  • Lead and implement maintenance processes and strategies to ensure tasks are completed in a time and cost effective manner
  • Manage productivity levels of the maintenance team by setting daily KPIs and ensuring targets are achieved in a timely manner
  • Monitor and control budgets and forecasts to meet production targets
  • Engage and collaborate with other Supervisors on the planning and execution of maintenance schedules and activities
  • Report on completed work with recommendations on any corrective actions and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain reports, records and work procedures in SAP related to the Electrical Maintenance function
  • Undertake failure analysis and preventative maintenance forecasting in collaboration with Superintendence and Supervisor peers
  • Raise and approve electrical notifications to order goods/services in line with cost/budget schedules
  • Conduct pre and post outage inspections
  • Conduct quality audits
  • Quality control
  • Assist with preparation for shutdowns (labour hire / equipment hire / tools & work lists etc)

       Leadership:

  • Drive a strong, engaged and positive culture in the Electrical Maintenance team
  • Implement steps to maintain moral whilst driving efficiency and business improvement
  • Plan, manage and monitor team activities and define performance expectations with clear team KPI's and deliverables
  • Lead Technicians and Contractors to maintain and improve electrical maintenance systems and procedures
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure they remain informed and engaged
  • Supervisor crew and contractor time sheets

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering or a completed Trade Certification in the Electrical field

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience in similar senior level role in mining or other heavy industry environment
  • Previous experience in Electrical Maintenance delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a medium to large team environment   
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with cross-functional workgroups
